Bulgur Porridge

One of my all time favorites Bulgur Porridge. Takes as little as 20 minutes and full of flavor ( and fiber).
4 cups water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup bulgur
1 tablespoon flour
1 cup coconut milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
2 tablespoons condensed milk

Directions

  1. Bring salted water to a boil.Stir in bulgur.
  2. Cover and cook on slow heat for 15 minutes.
  3. Combine flour, coconut milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla together in a bowl.
  4. Simmer until thickened. Add a little water if it becomes too thick.
  5. Sweeten with condensed milk and or sugar.
  6. Serve hot.
Add a cinnamon leaf if you like. Remove just before service.

  8. Good base recipe. I added closer to 1/2 tsp salt and 2 cup coconut milk plus the cinnamon leaf. 1 cup coconut milk may be fine if its homemade or thick. The bulgur wasnt soft enough after 20 min so next time I will soak it first.
