Jamaican Green Banana or Plantain Porridge

4 green bananas or 1 plantain,peeled
 
2 1/2 cups water
1 cup whole milk
 
1 tsp. margarine
 
3 tbsps. brown sugar, to taste
 
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
 
METHOD
Put water and banana/plantain in a blender and puree till smooth. Pour into a pot and boil for 5 minutes. Stir vigorously, lower the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Stir in the milk, margarine, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and vanilla. Boil for 2 more minutes and serve.
